As a psychotherapist, I consider it an honor, joy and privilege to find some of my life's work embedded in one of the helping professions.
After completing my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, I began my therapist career in Los Angeles, where I first encountered and was mentored by Jack Rosberg,PhD at his Anne Sippi Clinic, where I was entrusted and encouraged to learn how to "be with" clients and to learn how to be of therapeutic and humane benefit to individuals struggling with Schizophrenia; those that I termed "The Severely Sorrowed" and others experiencing Extreme States of Mind: depression, anxiety, PTSD, bi-polar and psychosis.
I moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1997 where I have had a private practice for 11 years.
In my Post-Graduate studies, I have sought out extensive training and experience in clinically treating:
Trauma Resolution (Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute; formerly Hakomi)
Addictions (UCLA)
Major Life Transitions
Personal Growth
Grief and Loss (Shanti Foundation)
Relationships (PAIRS)
Domestic Violence
Non-violent Communication Techniques (Matrix Model)
Sexual Orientation (OASIS)
Mind/Body Integration
Extreme States of Mind (Windhorse Community Services, Anne Sippi Clinic)
Traumatic Brain Injury
Aspberger's Syndrome
I endeavor to work from and am committed to a Model of first: Doing No Harm and being a therapeutic "guide"; an authentic, relationally-compassionate presence that is cultivated in an environment of safety, trust, warmth, client-paced, client-centered, open communication and mutual regard.
I believe there is a "mutual exchange" where both the client and the therapist work collaboratively to best support the clients innate and organic avenues that are uniquely their own path to healing; giving the client enough spaciousness for the real self to move, speak and express their deepest needs.
I embrace an experiential and eclectic style of working therapeutically. Albeit, I may have many tools in my therapeutic toolbox, I mindfully explore the integrity of what may be most beneficial and appropriate for each client's unique needs in the moment.
A particular passion in my work, that is somewhat unique to my practice, is that of offering home-based care and therapeutic treatment to clients least able to access or benefit from a conventional office setting.
I am grateful to be of service, as a psychotherapist, in the Maitri Project's generous work and substantial contribution of offering therapeutic services and treatment to those who can least afford it.
My personal time spent in nourishing my own self-care/self-love needs is found in family, friends, painting, writing, cooking, meditating and growing more and more into my authentic self...a vulnerable adventure that without exploring, I could not expect those individuals I work with, to take upon themselves.

Wise as a Serpent, Harmless as a Dove by Davanzo
This writing is dedicated to Jack Rosberg, the man who in my eyes, almost single handedly advocated for the least able minded to have an opportunity, through psychotherapeutic treatment, to live lives with the most amount of dignity, love and excellent professional care available for any human being struggling with the disorder of schizophrenia.... download PDF
The Trauma of Schizophrenia by Davanzo
Exiting the theatre, after seeing the film "A Beautiful Mind," I had the proverbial lump in my throat, a faint smile on my face, and an ache in my heart. I could also feel the heat burning in my advocate's soul for the majestic courage it takes for an individual to recover from a major mental illness. In this instance it was schizophrenia.... download PDF
